Labs4 is a Canada-wide network of 38 colleges and universities working in partnership to empower researcher-entrepreneurs to turn academic breakthroughs into real-world ventures, products, and solutions.

Why Labs4 Is Different

We don’t stop at exploration – we generate outcomes.

  • Hands-on commercialization training
  • Applied research placements
  • Mentorship from industry and technical experts
  • Accelerated productization powered by Canada’s largest
applied innovation ecosystem

Delivered through 11 Regional and Indigenous Entrepreneurship Hubs,

Labs4 is inclusive by design, nationally coordinated, and regionally grounded.

Our Programs

Labs4 delivers three nationally standardized, regionally adapted programs designed for researcher-entrepreneurs at any level of postsecondary study or up to five years post-graduation.

Technology Readiness
Level-Up (TRL)

A 4-month placement in applied research labs that provides students at all levels with training to advance your innovation from concept to prototype. You gain access to TACs, mentorship,
and hands-on support in product development, testing, and market validation.

Market to Lab (MtL)

An intensive 2-month entrepreneurial sprint to validate your research in the market. Student researcher-entrepreneurs
lead a small team to overcome real-world commercialization challenges and build a go-to-market strategy for their innovation.

Indigenous Entrepreneurship Programs

Three Indigenous Entrepreneurship Hubs provide culturally grounded, community-led programming that supports First Nations, Métis and Inuit entrepreneur-researchers from concept to commercialization.
